PicoSense X, PCS Logger, MODBUS TCP, and browser-based access now available with every M-Series purchase — enabling lab, field, and industrial deployment from any device
Femto Sensing International (www.femtosensing.com), a wholly owned subsidiary of Technica Optical Components (www.technicasa.com), has released a new software ecosystem that gives M-Series and M4P optical interrogators users complete control of their sensing systems from any computer, browser, or mobile device.
The new Femto Sensing International (FSI) platform, comprising of PicoSense X, PCS Logger, MODBUS TCP support, and a built-in Web Backend Server, is available now and included with the purchase of any M-Series interrogator.
PicoSense X is the platform’s main graphical interface for configuration, calibration, peak tracking, and real-time visualization. Users can manage channels, FBGs, sensors, gain settings, sampling rates, and measurement parameters through a modern interface suited to both field and laboratory environments. It runs natively on Windows, macOS, and Linux, and is accessible via browser on any RPI-equipped M Series interrogator for remote access across distributed sensing setups.
Note: RPI is an optional Raspberry Pi Processor installed as a second internal processor and is available for any M Series Interrogator.

PCS Logger adds high-speed, long-duration data logging in CSV, binary, and configurable output formats. It runs on Windows, Linux, or directly inside an embedded Raspberry Pi, enabling continuous autonomous operation with no external PC required.
MODBUS TCP support connects interrogators directly to SCADA systems, PLCs, and broader industrial automation platforms, integrating FBG sensing data into existing operational infrastructure.
A built-in HTTP web server rounds out the ecosystem, providing browser-based control and visualization with no software installation needed.
The PicoSense X software ecosystem is available now and is included with the purchase of any M-Series Interrogator. Compatibility extends across all M-Series configurations:
Connects via Ethernet to an external Windows, Mac, or Linux PC running PicoSense X or PCS Logger. Suited for bench-top, lab, or PC-controlled environments.
These units include an embedded Linux computer (Raspberry Pi Processor) that runs PicoSense X and PCS Logger entirely inside the interrogator — no external PC required. A built-in web server makes the system browser-accessible from Windows, Mac, Linux, iPhone, iPad, Android, and tablets, enabling fully autonomous operation in industrial or remote installations. For teams with custom requirements, GoLang libraries are available for in-house software development directly on the embedded platform.
The M4P includes an embedded Raspberry Pi by default and is purpose-built for demanding field and industrial environments. It features a rugged field enclosure, a high-resolution touchscreen, and an internal rechargeable battery, making it a fully self-contained sensing platform. MODBUS TCP and API functions run directly from the internal processor, supporting standalone deployment with no external hardware or power source required.
